The app is being prepared for Google Play.

iPhone (App Store)

Coming soon

The iPhone version is being prepared for the App Store.

How to install the APK

  1. Open this page in your phone's browser and tap "Download APK".
  2. When the download finishes, open the file from the notification or from your Downloads folder.
  3. If Android asks for permission to install apps from your browser, allow it (see below) and go back.
  4. Tap "Install". If Google Play Protect warns that the app isn't from Google Play, check the SHA-256 first, then tap "Install anyway".
  5. Open Cifrela and sign up with your email address or an invitation.

How to allow installs from your browser

By default Android only installs apps from Google Play — this protects you from accidental installs. The permission is given separately to each app you open the file from.

  1. Open Settings → Apps.
  2. Find Special app access → Install unknown apps.
  3. Choose your browser (for example, Chrome) and turn on "Allow from this source".

Menu names may differ slightly depending on your phone's manufacturer. After installing, you can turn the permission off again — that's safer.

Check it's genuine (SHA-256)

This check makes sure you are installing the real Cifrela and not a fake. The download server shows the SHA-256 of the APK file and of the certificate it's signed with.

  1. Open the download server page and find the "File" and "Signature" fingerprints.
  2. On a computer, calculate the SHA-256 of the downloaded file: on Windows certutil -hashfile cifrela.apk SHA256, on macOS or Linux shasum -a 256 cifrela.apk. The values must match exactly.
  3. After installing, open Settings → About → Signing certificate in the app and compare it with the "Signature" fingerprint.

SHA-256 of the test build signing certificate:c632 8dc3 7878 30c0 461a 9b33 ae2e 2cc3 5a70 805e e822 85ca bd50 50ce 37bf 72f6

This is the fingerprint of the temporary test build key. Once we switch to the permanent key, the fingerprint on this page will change — always compare with the one shown here.

If it doesn't match, don't install the file and write to us at office@softsoledgeit.com.

Updates

Install a new version the same way, over the existing one — your data stays. If Android says the app conflicts with an installed one, the signature is different: don't install that file.
